I'm so happy you are here! My name is Janie. I am the creator and designer behind MakerJayne, a quilting business specializing in English paper piecing (EPP) patterns and techniques.

As a passionate quilt pattern designer and teacher, I help quilters cultivate confidence in their unique creative abilities, develop new skills, master color, and most importantly, have fun!

I have always been drawn to crafts that involve textiles. As a youngster, I explored macrame and crochet. I began quilting in my thirties when I fell head-over-heels in love with the craft.

I didn't always have creative confidence, though. In fact, most of my life I struggled BIG time with a negative self-image and deep self-hatred - always belittling my creative abilities and never really believing that I could be good at anything.

This negative thinking prevented me from ever accomplishing anything creatively because I was so afraid of doing it wrong, making a mistake, or being a failure.

In 2006, I had a weak-in-the-knees encounter with Yeshua of Nazareth, the Son of God, which began a personal transformation that continues to this day. For the first time in my life, I experienced perfect unconditional love and I haven’t been the same since!

For the very first time in my life, that experience put me on the path and the life-long journey of learning to value myself and my unique abilities. I eventually came to a place where I could truly and sincerely say to myself, “I love you just the way you are. Not the way you should be.”

Following this path helped me to allow myself to play like a child again, with fabric, quilting techniques, and color. I began to have fun exploring and experimenting, not worrying about whether it would look good or turn our “right”. I just enjoyed myself and the creative process.

I'm super passionate about helping quilters experience this same freedom to explore their creativity and potential. So I’ve dedicated my business to helping quilters cultivate creative confidence as they master color and explore English paper piecing.
